This week in gaming...
Nintendo held their Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase this week, showing off some new games coming to Switch in the next year. We got a look at NieR: Automata The End of YoRHa Edition, which comes to Switch on the 6th October, Super Bomberman R 2 coming next year, Return to Monkey Island coming first to Nintendo Switch this year, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, a sequel to the very well received original Kingdom Battle which is a turn-based tactical strategy game.
We saw some more Sonic Frontiers gameplay, Minecraft: Legends, No Man’s Sky which is coming to Switch in October along with Persona 5 Royal.
The new Skate game got a warts-and-all update video, showing how far into development the game is. The honest approach has gone down extremely well with viewers, and braces fans for a long, but understandable wait.
This comes in the same week as some Sony Santa Monica developers were harassed by some fans who are impatiently looking for a release date for God of War Ragnarök. Ron Gilbert, the creator of Monkey Island, was also on the receiving end of some unwarranted abuse from fans over the chosen art style for the upcoming game.
While personal preference and opinions are subjective, feedback and criticism should be given respectfully and constructively. In this case, it was not.
If the wait for a game to come out is proving tough to bear, try replaying some old favourites, or try some new games out of your comfort zone. We made a list of upcoming games in July that are completely free (and some that are free-ish).
