As part of its 20th anniversary celebrations, Ballet Ireland is delighted to launch Bold Moves, a contemporary double-bill featuring work by internationally renowned choreographers Ohad Naharin (Minus 16) and Ludovic Ondiviela (Lost) at the O’Reilly Theatre, Belvedere College, Dublin. Featuring an eclectic score ranging from Dean Martin to mambo, techno to traditional Israeli music, Ohad Naharin’s Minus 16 uses improvisation and his acclaimed “Gaga” method, a unique movement language. As former Artistic Director of the Batsheva Dance Company, Naharin has been hailed as one of the world’s preeminent contemporary choreographers and this will be the first time that his work has been presented by an Irish company. Lost, by long-standing Ballet Ireland collaborator, Ludovic Ondiviela, began life as part of a three-week choreographic laboratory and takes Irish myths and legends as its inspiration. Ondiviela’s fascination with the concept of faeries as ‘fallen angels’ suspended in a permanent state of limbo, has led to this work’s exploration of emotions, particularly feelings of guilt and rejection.
