Simon Cowell will be pleased...

PR overlord / Satan himself, Max Clifford, has been the latest just north of middle-aged man arrested "on suspicion of sexual offences" by police investigating the innumerable Jimmy Savile abuse claims.

ITV News reports: "Scotland Yard said a man in his 60s was arrested as part of Operation Yewtree, the investigation into allegations of sex abuse surrounding Savile and others. An earlier statement said: 'Officers working on Operation Yewtree have this morning, Thursday 6 December, arrested a man in his 60s [Yewtree 6] in connection with the investigation. The man from Surrey was arrested at 07:40hrs on suspicion of sexual offences and has been taken into a central London police station. The individual falls under the strand of the investigation we have termed 'Others'. We are not prepared to discuss further."

Digital Spy adds: "Clifford is the sixth person to be questioned as part of Operation Yewtree, after an unnamed man in his 80s was questioned last week. Gary Glitter, Freddie Starr, Dave Lee Travis and ex-TV producer Wilfred De'Ath are believed to be the other four individuals quizzed as part of the investigations. The Savile abuse scandal and consequent controversy over a Panorama documentary being pulled from the BBC's schedule last year eventually led to the departure of BBC director general George Entwistle."

Cue Kerry Katona coming forward with stories of how Max looked at her "in a pervy way" during business meetings.
