Colin Farrell is getting progressively less recognisable with each new movie or TV show we see him appear in.
'The North Water', a new BBC Two drama series, has released its first set of imagery from the production - including pictures of a heavily-bearded/pirate-y Colin Farrell.
Based on the highly-acclaimed 2016 novel by Ian McGuire, the five-part series tells the story of Patrick Sumner - who will be played by 'Skins' and 'Jungleland' star Jack O’Connell. He is a disgraced ex-army surgeon who will be the ship’s doctor while they go on a whale expedition to the Arctic during the 1850s. Colin Farrell will play the role of Henry Drax, a decidedly gruff crew member who is an expert harpooner. The cold snap of the elements and the heat between the crew reaches breaking point, as the true purpose of the expedition becomes clear.
Stephen Graham from 'Line of Duty' will play the role of Captain Brownlee, with Tom Courtenay, Sam Spruell, Scottish actor Peter Mullan, and Danish star Roland Møller also amongst the cast. Production on the series began back in 2019.
The series is expected to air on BBC Two this autumn.
Apart from 'The North Water', Colin Farrell has a number of projects on the horizon which will be keeping him busy for the foreseeable future.
He stars at Penguin / Oswald Cobblepot in Robert Pattinson's 'The Batman' - his lovely Irish cheekbones nowhere to be seen. He's also been lined up to star opposite his co-star from 'The Lobster' Rachel Weisz in 'Love Child' from writer-director Todd Solondz. Finally, another team-up will see him with his 'In Bruges' colleague Brendan Gleeson in Martin McDonagh's 'The Banshees of Inisherin'.
