The Emmy-nominated script has been called 'excruciating' and compared to 'fan-fic'
It was an episode of 'Game of Thrones' that undoubtedly divided the fandom, but now you have an opportunity to experience it a bit differently.
The script for the show's final episode 'The Iron Throne', which aired in May, is now online so you can read what happened and how it did (or didn't) translate to the screen.
It also answers a few questions that many viewers had; we ourselves were wondering, for example, whether the symbolism of Drogon burning the Iron Throne had any deeper meaning. Well, as the script reveals, it doesn't - it simply caught on fire after the dragon breathed flames in its general direction.
There are also a few amusing tidbits in the script which must have made the actors laugh (or perhaps cringe) - most notably, when Arya is telling Jon and Sansa that she is not returning north.

Others have been less impressed, and cast scorn on the fact that such trifling jokes are included in a series that has been Emmy-nominated for writing...
I can't believe this is part of the actual script from the last episode of Game of Thrones it's and not a weird parody of the show pic.twitter.com/co4BQNp6xb

In fact, the reaction to the script has generally been about as enthusiastic as the reaction to the final season, with many people expressing disappointment. Writers David Benioff and Dan Weiss, who pulled out of a panel at ComicCon last month, have been nominated in the 'Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series' category for the episode.
As a person who has some experience as a script editor, this Game of Thrones one is just excruciating to read. There’s no way something this bad wouldn’t have been withdrawn to be redraft under my watch. But then again, I know I’m still salty and obviously biased...

Compare the first page of SVU script to the three GoT script pages. How a clean script is supposed to look vs stupidity and fanfic and geography jokes pic.twitter.com/5SgHpFP8dV
