When it comes to backlashes, 'Game of Thrones' can now sit comfortably alongside the likes of 'Star Wars' and 'Star Trek' with this latest bit of online drama.

A Change.org petition has 13,290 signatures as of writing calling for the eighth season of 'Game of Thrones' to be rewritten and remade. Crucially, the petition also makes clear that neither David Benioff or Dan Weiss are to be involved in the proposed remake. "David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on," the petition's description claims. "This series deserves a final season that makes sense."

They're not alone either, as so far, this week's episode, 'The Bells', has scored some of the lowest reviews of the entire series. Social media reaction was largely negative to how not only how the episode itself was handled, but how the eighth season in general has progressed.

Of course, even if the petition reaches 20,000 signatures or beyond, it's highly unlikely that HBO will even remotely consider remaking and rewriting the eighth season of 'Game of Thrones'. You'll all just have to wait until George RR Martin gets around to finishing the books by himself and without the involvement of David Benioff and Dan Weiss.

The final episode of 'Game of Thrones' arrives next Monday.
