Showrunner Steven Knight gave an update on the BBC period thriller series.
Although 'Taboo' was something of a mixed bag of tricks, one thing for sure was that Tom Hardy gave an incredible performance in it.
While the series debuted in 2017 and two more seasons were planned, it's now looking likely that it'll be 2020 at least before it makes any progress. Speaking to Collider, Steven Knight - who also serves as showrunner on 'Peaky Blinders' - explained that the script is nearly complete.
"If we all stick with it and we all want to keep doing it, it would be three (seasons). That’s my plan. Because I’ve got a geographical sort of route for the thing to take. It’s basically a journey west. I have a destination in mind, which is always nice to have if you’re setting off on this big journey, which is what writing three eight-hours is. It’s good to know where you’re headed."
Knight also discussed his working relationship with Hardy, as the two both worked on 'Peaky Blinders', the thriller 'Locke' and obviously 'Taboo' together.
As Knight tells it, "I think it works because we don’t socialise. We do occasionally but not very often. I think the relationship is totally about the work. The great thing about Tom is that’s his passion, the work. The acting. He’s not a fan of celebrity. But he just loves to act."
Hardy's next movie will be 'Fonzo', which seems him playing the Chicago mobster Al Capone in the final years of life in prison. The movie, written and directed by Josh Trank, has no release date currently set.
