The two were the first acts to be voted off the celebrity edition of 'X Factor'.
Talk show host Ricki Lake and 'Love Actually' actor Olivia Olson were voted off 'X Factor: Celebrity' last night, making them the first two acts sent home.
Lake performed Fleetwood Mac's 'Landslide', while Olson performed Dionne Warwick's 'Anyone Who Had A Heart'. Olson was voted off by the judges, while Ricki Lake was voted off by the public. Nicole Scherzinger and Simon Cowell both voted against Olson, while Louis Walsh voted for Martin Bashir, as Olson was his act.
By all accounts, the news seemed to hit Olson pretty hard and wasn't able to speak to Dermot O'Leary initially, but was able to speak to her briefly. Meanwhile on Twitter, the public seemed to be against Olson's eviction.
@TheXFactor OMG just catching up .. I mean wow .. that was harsh .. @Megan_Mckenna_ was another level as was #OliviaOlson so, in any way you look at it.. it’s heartbreaking how to describe to my children why talent doesn’t always matter 😢 please vote for talent not popularity x

What a load of shite! Can't believe Simon Cowell had sent Olivia Olson home & keeping Martin Bashire & Nicole keeping Martin because he's her act eventhough he can't sing! Respect gone there! Utter shite! #CelebrityXFactor

It's early days yet, but it does appear that the show's reinvented format appears to have given it new life. While ratings have not been published for last night's live show, it does appear that 'X Factor: Celebrity' has won over Saturday night audiences for the moment.
The series continues on Virgin Media One next Saturday.
