We knew nothing

In a pretty surprising turn of events, the actor who played the biggest role in the fantasy franchise is making a return.

The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively received a raven word of a Jon Snow 'Game of Thrones' spin-off series in the works, with Kit Harington on board the project.

The production is believed to be in its early stages of development at HBO, and should a series get the green light, it will be the first 'GOT' sequel series following the eight seasons that concluded back in 2019.

Kit Harington will reprise his role as the "bastard" son of Ned Stark, should it get picked up series. The actor was nominated for two Emmy Awards for his portrayal of the fan-favourite action hero who became one of the biggest focal points of the entire franchise.

The Jon Snow spin-off is said to continue the outcast's journey through Westeros - the last we saw of him during the final few messy episodes of season eight, he murdered his aunt Daenerys Targaryen after discovering his true heritage and name was Aegon Targaryen. During the season finale, he was exiled back to the Night's Watch for his crime. It seems highly likely he won't be left up in the cold for much longer...

Since appearing in 'Game of Thrones', Harington has starred in a number of minor roles in TV and film, most notably in Marvel's 'Eternals' as Dane Whitman AKA Black Knight. He also starred in John Carney's 'Modern Love' season two, appearing in a Dublin-based episode alongside Lucy Boynton.

Should this Jon Snow spin-off be brought to series, it will be the first 'Game of Thrones' sequel following that disastrous season eight of the hit HBO production. It's interesting this should be in development, as it's likely all of the other stars (including Maisie Williams, Sophie Turner, Peter Dinklage, Isaac Hempstead, John Bradley and Gwendoline Christie) would likely appear along the way, right? Cameo appearances are second-to-none in a production such as this.

Other 'GOT' series in the pipeline at HBO, based on the world created by George R. R. Martin include 'Tales of Dunk and Egg''10,000 Ships' and also an untitled animated series. A Naomi Watts' 'GOT' pilot was famously axed, which would have been an origin story about the White Walkers.

'House of the Dragon' will be the next series, which is set to air later this summer on Sky Atlantic and NOW in Ireland and the UK. The prequel series begins on August 22 and follows the Targaryen dynasty with Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Olivia Cooke, Paddy Considine and Rhys Ifans leading the series.
