The new series will end up on Paramount+, the streamer formerly known as CBS All Access.

Although 'Frasier' has been off the air for the better part of two decades, the show hasn't lost any of its lustre in the years since.

If anything, the kind of witty banter and comedy-of-manners feels curiously ahead of its time and, simultaneously, a throwback to screwball comedies of the '50s. Indeed, the series won a whopping 37 Emmys during its eleven-year run, so the writers and stars clearly knew what they were doing.

A reboot of 'Frasier' is a long time coming, with Kelsey Grammer initially floating the idea back in 2018, with Grammer confirming that he was interested in revisiting the character - provided the quality was as before.

TVLine reports that if the original cast signs up - that's David Hyde Pierce as Niles, Jane Leeves as Daphne Moon, and Peri Gilpin as Roz Doyle - and the show gets the go-ahead, it could well begin filming as soon as this summer for it to be on Paramount Plus by the end of this year.

Bringing back TV shows for a new season is a popular way of getting people to sign on to a new streaming platform. Netflix, for example, revitalised 'Arrested Development' and the BBC series 'House of Cards', as well as 'Fuller House'. Disney+, meanwhile, are rebooting '80s fantasy epic 'Willow' as TV series. Not only that, Paramount Plus have rebooted 'iCarly' for a new generation, and were behind bringing Patrick Stewart back for the new series, 'Star Trek: Picard'.

Basically, if you want people to sign up for a streaming service, reboot a beloved TV show.
