Kidman will be joined by an all-star cast
The series will be based on Ahern's book of short stories, which was published in 2018.
Cecelia Ahern's 'Roar' has made its way back into the fold once again, with Hollywood star Nicole Kidman still attached. Kidman will lead an all-star cast in the TV series, which will be an Apple TV Plus exclusive.
Kidman was previously announced as being part of the series, and will serve as executive producer alongside Ahern. Kidman founded Blossom Films with Per Saari, who will produce. 'GLOW' creators Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch will serve as showrunners following their Netflix show becoming cancelled after three seasons, which fans were not happy about.
'Roar' was announced back in 2018, but little is known as to why it was put on hold for the past three years.
Alongside Kidman, 'GLOW' actor Alison Brie will star in Ahern's series, as well as Cynthia Erivo ('Broad City') and Merritt Wever ('Nurse Jackie').
The novel 'Roar' is made up of 30 stories featuring 30 different women, all dealing with various struggles in their lives. Boasting a diverse range of women from all walks of life, the casting of the Apple TV series certainly reflects the author's work.
Apple will create eight half-hour episodes for 'Roar', with a different actor heading up their own episode. Expect more casting announcements in the future. Given that there are 30 short stories in Ahern's novel, there is space for more seasons, should it be a success.
'Roar' will be Cecelia Ahern's third adaptation to hit our screens. 'P.S. I Love You' was of course her most famous book adapted into film, starring Gerard Butler, but there was also the lesser-known 'Love, Rosie', starring Lily Collins and Sam Claflin.
