A new work by Irish author Cecelia Ahern is being adapted into a TV series with none other than Nicole Kidman on board to produce it.

Two of Ahern’s books, ‘P.S. I Love You’ and ‘Love, Rosie,’ were previously adapted for the big screen and her latest work to be adapted, ‘Roar’, is a book of short stories.

‘Roar’ will be produced by Blossum Films, which was founded by Kidman and Per Saari, alongside Bruna Papandrea’s Made Up Stories and Theresa Park in collaboration with Ahern and her Greenlight Go Productions label.

Blossum Films previously executive-produced the Emmy-winning series ‘Big Little Lies’ for HBO.

More impressive still, Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, who were the co-creators and showrunners of hit Netflix series ‘GLOW’ and writers on ‘Orange is the New Black’, are attached as executive producers and showrunners for the series.

The show is being developed in partnership with Endeavor Content, and Ahern will serve as an executive producer alongside Flahive, Mensch, Kidman, Saari, Papandrea, Made Up Stories’ Steve Hutensky, and Park.

Set to be published in November 2018 by HarperCollins UK, ‘Roar’ is a compilation of thirty short stories, each of which features a woman exploring a different absurd contradiction or issue in her life.

It has been described as “a sometimes comic, always moving look at the guilt, joys, humiliation and triumphs that define the modern woman’s experience, including the private moments when she feels the need to roar” (referring to Helen Reddy’s song and lyric, ‘I Am Woman, Hear Me Roar’).

“I’m incredibly honoured to be working with this phenomenal team in bringing ‘Roar’ from the page to the screen,” said Ahern. “The women in this collection have lived and breathed with me for so very long, I’m excited to begin the next journey of amplifying their voices.”
