"We always believed it was ahead of its time"

If you had ever doubted the power of an artist's fandom, this'll prove you wrong.

Lady Gaga's album 'ARTPOP' was released in 2013, and although it did well commercially at the time, it was not as critically-acclaimed as her other work. However, over the years it has become a fan favourite amongst her 'Little Monsters' - aka her fanbase - and now they want to see the album get its dues.

An online petition was launched that called for Gaga to release B-sides from the album - and as a result of the renewed interest in the record, it has shot back up the charts and is currently sitting at #3 in the US iTunes chart, just behind 'The Best of DMX' and Taylor Swift's re-recorded version of 'Fearless'.

Before the album was even released in 2013, the 'Chromatica' pop star had hinted to a fan on Twitter that a follow-up was already in the works, dubbed 'Artpop: Act II' - although it has never been made available publicly. It is this collection - which Gaga's collaborator DJ White Shadow has reportedly played instrumentals from at various concerts over the years - that fans now want to hear.

She took to social media to express her love and thanks for fans' support, saying that the petition "has inspired such a tremendous warmth in my heart.  Making this album was like heart surgery, I was desperate, in pain, and poured my heart into electronic music that slammed harder than any drug I could find.

"I fell apart after I released this album," she added. "Thank you for celebrating something that once felt like destruction. We always believed it was ahead of its time. Years later turns out, sometimes, artists know. And so do little monsters. Paws up."

Whether it has had enough of an effect to inspire 'Act II''s release remains to be seen.
