Film will follow the space race of the 1960s
'Avengers' stars Chris Evans and Scarlet Johansson will reunite for a big-budget space film for Apple.
'Project Artemis' will follow the real life space race of the 1960s which saw the American space program beat the Soviet Union to the moon.
Plot details are vague at the moment, but the A-list stars have officially joined the project for Apple, with the project boasting a price tag of over 100 million.
Jason Bateman has been drafted in to direct the film, which may seem like an odd choice on paper but it's worth noting the star has won an Emmy for his directorial efforts on hit Netflix show 'Ozark'.
Apple is riding high after becoming the first streaming service to win the Academy Award for Best Picture with their film 'CODA' and has further secured their bona-fides by landing the next Martin Scorsese film.
The streamer also has the Henry Cavill-starring spy thriller 'Argylle' coming down the tracks.
Apple TV Plus subscribers will know that the streaming service has already done the excitement surrounding the space race justice, with alternate history show 'For All Mankind' becoming one of the most critically-acclaimed shows on the service.
This space film will reunite 'Avengers' stars Evans and Johansson, with the pair starring in 8 films together, ranging from 'The Nanny Diaries' and 'The Perfect Score' to the blockbuster MCU films.
Bateman has garnered acclaim for his directorial work on 'Ozark', and has previously directed two films.
This film will represent a leap forward for Bateman as a director as he's skewed towards comedy dramas until now.
No word yet on a release date, but with A-list talent involved, the project should begin to pick up steam fairly quickly.
