Great news for fans of the 2003 classic
Jamie Lee Curtis has the rare distinction of having classic films in multiple decades, and following the success of the 'Halloween' sequels, the star says she's keen to revisit one of her old classics.
The star gained a new generation of fans thanks to her hilarious performance in the 2003 remake of 'Freaky Friday' alongside Lindsay Lohan, and she said she would like to make a sequel.
While promoting 'Haloween Ends' on 'The View', a host asked her if she would be up for making a sequel to 'Freaky Friday', to which Curtis replied "I've already written to my friends at Disney!"
“I’m 64 years old today — not today, soon, in a month or whatever. My point is I’m wide open, creatively I am wide open,” she said.
Curtis had a fun pitch for a possible sequel: “Lindsay Lohan and me back in Freaky Friday. She just made a Christmas movie, I believe, and she got married. … It’s all good. Bring it!"
"Let me be the grandma, let me be the old grandma who switches places, so then Lindsay gets to be the sexy grandma who’s still happy with Mark Harmon in all the ways you would be happy with Mark Harmon,” she pitched.
"I would like to see Lindsay be the hot grandma, and I would like to see me try to deal with toddlers today. I want to be a helicopter parent in today’s world."
With 'Hocus Pocus' recently getting a belated sequel, the prospect of a 'Freaky Friday' sequel doesn't seem that far-fetched, and considering how Curtis and Lohan still have massive cultural appeal, it would be surprising if Disney didn't pull the trigger on a sequel to the 2003 classic.
For those who haven't had the joy of seeing 'Freaky Friday', Curtis and Lohan star as a mother and daughter who switch bodies are switched and must live out their lives in each others bodies until the curse is lifted.
Curtis' performance in the the 2003 film is hysterical, with the star receiving a Golden Globe nomination for her efforts in the film.
The star is gearing up for her final battle with Michael Myers, with 'Halloween Ends' releasing in Irish cinemas this Friday.
