When the follow-up series to 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' was announced and was understood be focusing on Jean-Luc Picard's career after his tenure on the USS Enterprise-D, it's important to note that it was only he - and nobody else from the series - who was mentioned.

While an Instagram post seemed to suggest that there may be a potential reunion underway, it now looks like those hopes may have been dashed as three of the crew members - Marina Sirtis, Michael Dorn and Gates McFadden, who played Counsellor Troi, Lt. Commander Worf, and Dr. Crusher - have confirmed none of them have received a call for the new series.

"All I have to say, all we have to say - I am speaking for all three of us now - when Patrick said ‘Jean-Luc Picard is back,’ he didn’t say TNG is back," said Sirtis at Seattle's Rose City Comic-Con, according to TrekMovie.comMichael Dorn confirmed this, whilst Gates McFadden joked that her cat got a huge contract offer.

It's not yet known why this is the case, but it always seemed like the original crew were on good terms with each other and regularly appeared at conventions and the like together as a unit. Understandably, the new series focuses on Jean-Luc Picard so the idea of bringing in the old crew of the USS Enterprise-D would likely muddy the waters somewhat.

Still, wouldn't it be great just to see them all back together again? Even just our pal Riker? Come on, like.
