The five acts that will be inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame next year have been announced.

Hip-hop giants N.W.A. will cap off a very successful 2015 - which included the release of their huge bionic Straight Outta Compton - with the news that they'll be honored with the induction next year.

Joining them are rock bands Deep Purple, Cheap Trick, Chicago and blues-rocker Steve Miller.

To be eligible for consideration, 25 years must have passed since an act released their first record. Rather disappointingly, there were no female acts on the list, despite the likes of Janet Jackson and Chaka Khan being nominated. Chic, Yes and The Smiths were also amongst this year's nominees.

Over 600 industry insiders vote for the top five during the process, with a public vote also being taken into consideration.

Nevetherless, the ceremony with take place at the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame in April.
