The world's biggest boyband have earned a spot in Guinness' book after having their first three records debut at #1 in the United States.

Having already sold millions of albums across the globe, embarked on multiple sold-out world tours and haunted the dreams of teenage girls (and the wallets of their parents), One Direction have added another notch to their collective belt after becoming the only UK/Irish group to have their first three albums reach the top of the US charts on release.

Take THAT, The Beatles.

Announcing the news to the anguished wails of rabid children on stage at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, Mulligar man Niall Horan said: "This really is one of our proudest moments, both for us and our incredible fans. Whenever we talk about it we always say how cool it is that we did it first, how sick is that?!"

Quite sick indeed, Niall.

1D topped their charts in 2012 with their first album 'Up All Night' and scored similar success with their sophomore release 'Take Me Home'. Third album 'Midnight Memories' achieved the same result, selling one million copies in the US in just five weeks.

You can read more about this when the Guinness Book of World Records hits the shelves on September 11th.
