World famous tenor Plácido Domingo will make his long awaited return to Ireland on the 31st May 2015 to perform in Dublin’s 3Arena.
Domingo’s last performance in Ireland was in March 2004, but this time he will be accompanied by conductor Eugene Kohn and some very special guests performing with the full concert orchestra.
He is recognised, not only as one of the finest and most influential singing actors in the history of opera, but also as a respected conductor.
Domingo’s vocal repertoire encompasses 145 stage roles - a number unmatched by any other celebrated opera singer in history - including Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra, Rigoletto, La Traviata, Il Trovatore, Nabucco, I Due Foscari, Giovanna d'Arco, and Macbeth and in Massenet's Thais.
He has conducted many performances with the Metropolitan Opera, the Royal Opera Covent Garden, the Vienna State Opera, and Los Angeles Opera, among many other ensembles, and symphonic concerts with the Chicago Symphony, National Symphony, London Symphony, Berlin Philharmonic, Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, and numerous other orchestras.
In 1990, Domingo and his colleagues José Carreras and the late Luciano Pavarotti spontaneously formed the Three Tenors, which then performed from time to time with enormous success all over the world and attracted many new fans to opera.
As of 2015, Domingo has been singing leading roles for 54 years in more than 3,800 performances – 700 of them at the Met alone. From July 2014 through to June 2015 he will have taken part in 47 performances in seven leading opera roles, and four conducting appearances – all of this in 17 different cities in 13 countries on four continents.
His show at Dublin’s 3Arena will feature operatic classics, popular arias, Latin and Theatrical greats. This is a unique opportunity to see such a legendary artist in one of Europe’s best concert venues. A show not to be missed.
