John Grant will release his third solo album 'Grey Tickles, Black Pressure' this October.

The American musician, who formerly fronted The Czars before going on to enjoy a career renaissance with his debut solo album 'Queen of Denmark' in 2010, will release the album on Bella Union on October 2nd.

While 2013's 'Pale Green Ghosts' saw Grant take a more electronic slant, having recorded in Iceland, the new album was recorded with producer John Congelton in Dallas, Texas.

If you're wondering about the title, multi-linguist Grant explains: "Grey tickles’ is the literal translation from Icelandic for ‘mid-life crisis’, while ‘black pressure’ is the direct translation from Turkish for ‘nightmare’."

The album features guest contributions from Amanda Palmer, Tracey Thorne and Budgie, former drummer with The Banshees.

You can see the rather wonderful artwork below, as well as the tracklisting and a slightly NSFW trailer for the album.

John Grant plays two nights at Vicar Street on November 9th and 10th - as well as a double-headliner with Sinead O'Connor in Galway on July 23rd.
