Festival season is officially launched this weekend when the Forbidden Fruit carnival rolls into town and pitches up at the Royal Hospital, Kilmainham.

In case you were still on the fence about whether to head along or not, tickets for Sunday are now sold out - but there are limited weekend tickets and day tickets available for Saturday and Monday still on sale.

Now, let's get to the nitty-gritty; you'll find info on transport, stage times, weather and more below.

Enjoy!

WEATHER

It may look fairly grim out there today, but the good news is that it's set to pick up. Met.ie says Saturday "will be less warm but most areas will stay dry with sunny spells and just a risk of a shower. Highest temperatures ranging from 17 to 19 degrees. Winds will stay mainly light and variable." Sunday "will be warm and humid again with sunny spells", while Monday will see "little change".

Pleasant! Delightful! Just watch out for those thunderstorms.

TRANSPORT

There is no car parking, so public transport is the best way to get to the festival site. The nearest red line Luas stop is Heuston, and RHK is less than a 10 minute walk from the station.

There are also FREE shuttle buses departing from Harcourt Street, departing regularly from 2pm each day, and returning to the city centre from 9pm each night.

Bus routes 40, 123, 13, 79/79A and 25/25A all go past Royal Hospital, Kilmainham.

ENTRANCE

Gates open at 2pm on Saturday and Sunday, and 3pm on Monday. Last entry to the festival on all days is 9.30pm. No large bags will be permitted to the concert site. Bags A4 size & smaller will be subject to security checks on entry. Those with no bags will be fast tracked into the arena.

After the fun ends at the RHK, the annual Forbidden Fruit by Night line-up kicks off on Saturday and Sunday nights at various venues around the city centre for ticket-holders. Please note: you must buy tickets for these shows separately (at the festival), and they're only for those who attend the festival by day.

EXTRAS

This year, you'll be able to reserve a blanket to sit on the fill facing the main stage (yes, really) - and you’ll even get a little basket of goodies delivered to your blanket to enjoy while you relax. See the Facebook page for more details.
