It's a bit early to be thinking about Christmas - but when you hear the word 'Slade', you can't help but hear their trademark tune 'Merry Xmas Everybody'.

The glam-rock band were more than just a one-hit wonder, of course; their career has lasted from 1966 until now and they proved a defining band on the UK's glam scene during the 1970s with songs like 'Cum On Feel the Noize' - although the line-up has changed and gone through various incarnations since their inception in the sixties.

Former lead singer Noddy Holder is no longer with them - instead, they've got new vocalist Mal McNulty, formerly of Sweet - but they'll play Vicar Street on December 6th, nonetheless.

And given the time of year that's in it, you can definitely expect to hear them play that tune.

Tickets are €39.50 and on sale at 9am this Friday from usual outlets.
