Getting married is a happy occasion and usually an excuse to gather the family close to help you celebrate.

Frances Bean Cobain, the daughter of late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain and Hole singer Courtney Love, reportedly married her long-term boyfriend Isaiah Silver the other day - but she didn't invite her mother. In fact, she didn't even tell her about it.

Reports suggest that the wedding was "small and intimate", with 15 guests at most.

An anonymous source told E! News: "Courtney loves Isaiah, but was devastated to learn that Frances had gotten married without her knowing. Courtney really likes Isaiah and is very happy for Frances. Courtney is sad she wasn't at the wedding."

They added: "Frances called her after, but [she] understands why she did it. Frances needs a man in her life and has always craved stability. She's found it in Isaiah. This has not caused a rift between mom and daughter. Courtney was sad, but she's cool, and Isaiah is a great son-in-law.”

However, Love posted a picture to Instagram with a caption that suggested she was not entirely 'cool' with it.

It read: "If you think I'm sorry for being a no-show at any important events this week, think again. I was with @jamesnorley âÂ?¤ #candyface #worthflakingonanythingfor #heaven #worthit #slay #bae #cancelallmyappointments #donthate #stud #jealousmuch ? 😇😈 Bwahaa xc"

Billboard reports that despite a turbulent relationship in the past, the pair were allegedly getting on well earlier in the year - so it's a mystery as to why Love was not invited (other than the very real possibility of going off on a mad one, that is.)

It's not clear whether any of Kurt Cobain's family members were present at the wedding.
