When you have a name like Evian Christ, you can expect to encounter some bizarre incidents - but one English DJ got more than he bargained for when he was held in a 'cage' backstage at a festival over the weekend, despite being on the bill to perform.
Christ, who worked with Kanye West on his 'Yeezus' album, was apprehended by security at the Leeds festival over the weekend when he was apprehended by security after refusing to identify himself.
Apparently, the DJ was scheduled to play the festival but was "found in a not very good state in the woods, without being able or willing to disclose who he was," according to festival boss Melvin Benn. "He was effectively held till we knew who he was. He certainly wasn't prevented from performing under any circumstances. It was his decision not to perform, not the festival's."
Christ tweeted from the 'cage' he was being held in backstage, saying that security didn't realise that he was a DJ. Moral of the story: probably should have stuck with his real name, the much less made-up sounding Joshua Leary.
