Anyone who has a smartphone and is prone to that niggling feeling that just won't go away when you recognise a song but just… can't… remember… it… will probably be aware of Shazam.

By using some sort of witchcraft aural algorithms, the app can identify a song after hearing just a few seconds of it.

Now, the artist who has been most Shazamed this year has been revealed, but it's not who you might expect (Adele, Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran, etc.)

Instead, producer and DJ Diplo is the only artist to clock up over 40 million Shazams this year. He's been a busy man, in fairness - both with his Jack U material (with Skrillex) and as part of Major Lazer, whose 'Lean In', has been one of the biggest tracks of 2015.
