There must be something in the water in Walford because the EastEnders mass exodus continues this week, with yet another cast member calling it quits just 7 days after Joey Branning aka David Witts announced that he was leaving the square.
Now, this latest one isn't quite so shocking (the character has left and returned twice already) but the timing probably couldn't be worse. Nothing says sinking ship like all your most popular characters saying sayonara now does it?

Charlie Brooks, aka Janine Butcher, has revealed that she will leave the show for a third time in 2014. "I decided a while ago it was time for me to leave Janine behind", she told The Daily Mirror. However, she also hinted that she wasn't keen to burn any bridges, or say goodbye to her on screen alter-ego permanently. "Janine still has a way to go yet and is never far from Walford. It may be more see you later than goodbye."
Her decision to quit seems to have a lot to do with the new role she's been offered on Ant & Dec's I'm A Celebrity spinoff Get Me Out of Here! Now!, but we have a feeling she might be regretting it just a tad now that former EastEnders' exec producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins is heading back to helm the soap's recovery. 'When I found out he [Dominic] was returning I was gutted", she revealed.'I know how fantastic he is and that he will be putting the show back to its rightful place.'
In fairness, we can't blame her for leaving the Square. Walford seems a far worse place that the I'm A Celebrity jungle these days... Will there be anyone left to cry 'I'm a somewhat decent soap actor, get me out of here' by the end of 2014?
