If you've been watching 'Yellowstone' on RTÉ, you can imagine that the Duttons aren't exactly what you'd call poor people.

In fact, it's quite the opposite - they're utterly minted. The TV series, which plays like a mixture of 'Game of Thrones' and 'Billions' with 'Dallas' thrown in on top, sees the Duttons battle mega-corporations, themselves, Native Americans, and everything else to keep their hold on their cattle ranch in Montana.

Taylor Sheridan, the series creator and showrunner, previously wrote crime thrillers like 'Sicario', 'Hell or High Water', and 'Wind River', and wrote and directed the upcoming thriller 'Without Remorse' based on Tom Clancy's novel. In an announcement by Paramount yesterday evening, Sheridan has signed a major deal with the studio that will - among other things - see him create a prequel series of 'Yellowstone'.

'Y: 1883' will be set during - you guessed it - the 1880s and follow the Duttons as they moved west across the Great Plains, described by Deadline as "a stark retelling of Western expansion, and an intense study of one family fleeing poverty to seek a better future in America’s promised land: Montana."

So far, there's no word yet on casting nor is there any word on when it will be available to watch here in Ireland. The series is currently set for Paramount+, the new streaming service by Paramount, so the likelihood is that it will end up on RTÉ at some point in the near future.
