In a tweet sent from the official account for 'X Factor', the producers apologised and confirmed that "Saturday’s public vote has been cancelled and will instead open in Sunday’s show at 8.30pm on ITV."

During last night's performances, a message flashed up on screen noting the issue - yet the show still went on, despite this. According to viewer reports, the technical issue began during Danny Tetley's performance and continued through to Anthony Russell.

Interestingly, the show was not live and was recorded earlier that day - which is why host Dermot O'Leary made no reference to the sound quality issues.

Here's a sample of how bad it was.

Despite this, all performances from last night were uploaded to YouTube without any of the technical issues that plagued last night's show.

The understanding is that the performances will be broadcast tonight, with viewers then being able to vote on them rather than each singer having to repeat their performances.

Tonight's show will be broadcast on Virgin Media One at 20.30, with voting likely to take place as the show begins.
