William Shatner is not going to play Captain Kirk in another 'Star Trek' project, ever. So quit asking him already!

Trekkies have long been eager to see Shatner reprise his most renowned role.

And with 'Picard' having recently lunched - with a confirmed old favourite, Guinan (played by Whoopi Goldberg), coming back for season 2 - hopes were reunited that other 'Star Trek' characters could be rejuvenated in their own TV series or film.

And top of the fans' list was a reboot for Captain Kirk.

Thus a fan asked the actor who originally played the character (Shatner that is, not Chris Pine), if he'd consider doing a series on the captain.

“No,” was the response. “I think Kirk’s story is pretty well played out at this point.”

In a follow-up tweet, he totally shut the door, telling fans to basically get over it already.

He wrote: “What was any different about my statement on Kirk that I haven’t said before? I don’t do cameos (that one stretches back to 2008 & JJ) Kirk’s story is well told out of any other captain’s story. Kirk died in Generations. What is really left? Adventures in the ribbon?”

So there you have it. Captain Kirk won't reprise his role, and a 'Friends' reunion isn't going to happen.

No, wait...
