When you're not musing over your family tree and its hidden secrets, aren't you jst dying to see some celebrities running around a boiling kitchen hurling our more inflammatory words than hot dishes? According to the new BBC polls you are, as both Who Do You Think You Are? and Celebrity MasterChef were the most watched TV programmes last night.

With 5 million views, Coronation Street actor Nigel Havers' episode of Who Do You Think You Are came in first place for the night. Following not too far behind was Celebrity MasterChef with over 4.5 million viewers at 8pm Wednesday, last night. This series, the cooking show will serve up guests such as Katy Brand, Shane Lynch, Shappi Khorsandi, Jo Wood, Heidi Range and Janet Street-Porter.

Programmes such as Restoration Home, Queen Victoria's Children and Family Guy also were heavily watched on Britain's public service leading channel. Ireland's own Love/Hate hit high numbers on competing channel Channel 5, with ITV's You Saw Them Here First reaching 4.5m (21.3%) at 8pm and Neighbourhood Force pulling in 2.3m at 9pm on the same channel.
