This is officially the show we’re most looking forward to in 2019.
FX has ordered ten half-hour long episodes for a comedy series to be based on cult favourite What We Do in the Shadows.
Taika Waititi, who wrote, directed and starred in the original alongside Jermaine Clement, talked about how they were developing the series last October in the aftermath of the success of his Marvel debut, Thor: Ragnarok.
The series will be written by Clement and directed by Waititi, and follows three vampires who have been living together for hundreds of years. It stars Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou and Harvey Guillen. It hasn’t been confirmed whether Clement and Waititi will have onscreen roles, as they did for the movie.
Nick Grad, president of originals at FX, said: "What We Do in the Shadows only gets better with age thanks to this brilliant adaptation for television by co-creators Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi.
“Their feature version was a hilarious, fresh take on the mundanity of everyday life that even immortals must face.”
The show debuts in spring 2019.
