Aaron Sorkin created one of TV's greatest drama series in the form of The West Wing.

Unfortunately, he's had a string of non-starters since then. Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip was cancelled after a single season while The Newsroom kicks off it's third and final season tonight on US screens.

Sorkin, who has come under criticism for his writing on The Newsroom, has said that he's done with TV.

"I know the whole 'never say never' stuff, but I'm pretty certain I'm about to write my last three episodes of television," Sorkin said in a recent interview.

Sorkin won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay in 2011 for The Social Network and is gearing up for the production of his long-mooted Steve Jobs biopic with Danny Boyle directing.

"I've had much more failure,as traditionally measured, than success in television. I've done four shows and only one of them was The West Wing."

The final season of The Newsroom will debut on Irish televisions on Sky Atlantic, Wednesday November 12th at 10PM.
