This is in fact, one of the most awkward television interviews you'll find anywhere, never mind Ireland. I'm talking worse that Meg Ryan on Parkinson that time, and that was hard to watch. In what was a pretty impressive coup for the show, they nabbed the first European interview with Russia's controversial 'Pussy Riot', who are Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina.

The pair came to the world's attention when they were jailed simply for performing in a church in Moscow. Madonna and our own Sinead O' Connor came out in support of them, as well as numerous online petitions for their release - which happened just before Christmas.

So back to the interview. The pair come on for a chat but the only slight difficulty being that they require a translator. Fair enough, says you. We can handle that. Hell, sometimes we even watch movies with subtitles, we're well able. But oh God, did it get awkward. Hide behind the couch awkward. Your hand begged you to change channel, but your eyes... they couldn't look away.

Brendan - it has to be said - tried to handle it as best he could, but the girls - particularly Nadezhda - seemed incensed by his questions, none of which seemed to be any good in their opinion. Brendan pointed this out at one stage which did NOT go down well. The body language alone was enough to make you cringe to your core. Every so often you would hear nervous laughter from the audience who, God love them, really had no choice but to sit through it.

It ended as awkward as it began, with all three leaving the stage before the ad break came up. The two have obviously been through a lot in their defense, but it's hardly Brendan O' Connor's fault!

You WILL cringe hard... but you know you want to see it for yourself!
