Between Game of Thrones, Veep, Girls and True Detective, HBO have been knocking it out of the park recently with their self-produced content, and judging by this first trailer for the upcoming drama The Leftovers, it looks like their onto another winner.

Starring Justin Theroux, Amy Brenneman, Christopher Eccleston, Liv Tyler, Annie Q and a heap of other major talents, The Leftovers is the brainchild of LOST co-creator and writer Damon Lindelof and novelist Tom Perotta. We know very little about where the plot is going to take us and if you want to enjoy the trailer more, we'd really suggest watching it before reading on.

So what's it all about? Well it appears to take place in a world where 2% of the population mysteriously vanish all at the same time in what some people are calling 'The Rapture', with everyone left behind becoming the titular 'Leftovers', who struggle with a world in which no one really knows what to believe in anymore. This looks both creepy and enthralling, so don't be surprised if you find your summers taken over by willing the weeks away so you can get to the next episode.
