We wanted it to be spooky and it didn't disappoint: The very first teaser trailer for American Horror Story: Coven certainly had us breaking out in goosebumps with its eerie rendition of 'House of The Rising Sun'.The 18 second clip features a group of women facing some rather white walls in what appears to be some form of 'Detention', and hints at what's to come when the show finally airs.

As per Vulture, Ryan Murphy recently revealed that the show will be based around a massive face-off between the witches of Salem and the Southern voodoo practitioners, and even shared a few details about the magical plot with some lucky Emmy voters last week.

"They all gravitated toward New Orleans, where they now live, and every generation has a great witch who has the most powers of them all, and that's called the Supreme. Ms. Jessica Lange is the Supreme" he told the crowd at a special event. "It really is about the witches of Salem pitted against voodoo witches. It's been a centuries-long feud and it's up to Jessica Lange and Angela Bassett to mend the fence."

Bassett and her co-star Kathy Bates will both play real-life historical figures in the upcoming third season. The former will star as "the voodoo queen of New Orleans", while the latter will play historical serial killer Marie Delphine LaLaurie, a.k.a. Madame LaLaurie. She and her husband were known for torturing and killing several of their slaves in New Orleans in the 1830s. If Kathy's performance in Misery is anything to go by, we know she'll be brilliant, but we can't help thinking she would have made an awesome witch...

Despite the seriously dark undertones, Murphy says the series will actually be far lighter than the smash-hit Asylum. "It's much more buoyant and comedic and crafty than last season, which was much darker by design because it was about heavy social stuff," he revealed.

We're shaking in our boots with fear/excitement already.
