It's been reported today that private broadcaster TV3 is being circled by a number of major buyout firms for a possible takeover. The channel is currently owned by Doughty Hanson, and has been since 2006, however it's thought the group is currently in preliminary discussions with the likes of Carlyle and Liberty Global.

The news follows the announcement this week that Doughty would not be investing in any more funds and would instead focus on "achieving strong exits."

TV3 have recently suffered a few losses in that key programmes like Coronation Street and Emmerdale have dented their audience share.

Saying that though, it's still early days and Carlyle and Doughty have both declined to comment.
