They've tried it, tested it, and got the consumer seal of approval, so now UPC's Horizon TV is officially hitting the Irish market.

The brand new service will allow UPC customers with a Horizon set top box to avail of a whole host of new perks, while the Horizon TV App and Horizon TV Online service will give them access to 45 channels across multiple devices, including PCs, laptops, mobiles and tablets for free in-home.

Among the new delights on offer are 19 HD channels as standard, with the likes of RTE, TG4, Sky and BBC's HD output coming in at no extra cost. Horizon TV customers will be able to record up to four programmes at a time, while watching a fifth we might add. Sure you'd be hard pushed to miss out on anything there, eh? And of course, there's be an opportunity to really personalise the service, with programme suggestions for shows you might like based on the ones you've already been watching. Plus, there's 100Mb broadband with the Horizon Essential Bundle: Everything is wrapped up neatly in that one little set top box.

"UPC Horizon TV will completely transform consumers’ TV experience, by doing two extraordinary things, bringing Irish consumers closer to the TV they love in better and new ways, and putting all their services together in one clever box", said Mark Coan, Vice President Sales & Marketing of UPC Ireland. "These services combine to make a unique product which is unmatched by any other TV provider."

The service comes to brand new customers at between €66 and €73 per month, while existing UPC customers will be able to sign up for a once-off fee of about €50, but it's important to note that it will initially only be available in areas that boast UPC’s advanced coverage. In other words, you'd want to be getting top notch fibre power connections as standard if you're hoping to nab Horizon TV.

Now lads, who wants to find the remote?
