The on-again-off-again story of the new Twin Peaks takes another turn, as it looks as though the show has been pushed back.

When the announcement was made that the iconic Twin Peaks would be returning, the show was slated to come out in 2016, which is what the short announcement video also stated, marking the 25 year anniversary of the show and coinciding with Laura Palmer's prediction in the black lodge. However, there was some bad news today for those fans who were already clearing space on their calendars.

According to the show's co-creator Mark Frost, the reboot will now air later than originally planned, and while he didn't offer a specific date, he did say that we would have to wait until 2017. In an interview given at the Baseball Hall of Fame Museum, Frost said "the challenge for us is to try and come back and raise the bar above what we did the last time. We’re coming back with season three of ‘Twin Peaks’ after a 25-year absence. We’ve finished the scripts, we start production in September, and that will be coming out on Showtime sometime in 2017".

If you haven't yet seen the original series, that means you've got a bit more time to catch up, but the rest of us will just have to keep waiting...
