There are so many great TV series to look forward to this year. Unfortunately, for some of those returning, this year marks their last hurrah.
Here's the scoop on not only which TV series are ending, but where and when you can watch or stream their epic finales.
Ozark
'Ozark' will air its fourth and final season this year across two parts. Episodes one through seven debut later on Netflix this month, on January 21, with the premiere date for the second half TBC. The crime drama follows the Bryde family's money laundering schemes in the Ozarks region, Missouri. They've been lucky enough to avoid arrest and death up until this point, but as they're now in with drug cartel leader Navarro, who knows how long their luck will last.
The Walking Dead
'The Walking Dead' has had a good run up until now, having premiered in 2010. Its eleventh and final season kicked off on August 22, 2021, and will conclude its run in 2022. Led by Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), this season sees the group come face to face with the so-called "Commonwealth" communities as well as the hostile "Reapers". 'The Walking Dead' is showing on ABC in the US while in Ireland and the UK, it is streaming on Disney+.
Better Call Saul
The spin-off, prequel and sequel to 'Breaking Bad' will have actually run for longer than its predecessor (63 episodes versus 62) by the time it reaches its conclusion. After season 5 aired two years ago, the sixth and final season of 'Better Call Saul' will consist of 13 episodes, airing in two separate halves, on dates TBC. Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Rhea Seehorn, Patrick Fabian, Michael Mando, Tony Dalton, and Giancarlo Esposito all reprise their roles for the finale.
Grace and Frankie
Having started to wane in more recent seasons, it feels like the right time for 'Grace and Frankie' to wrap things up. The Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin starrer's seventh season marks the show's conclusion. Four episodes for it dropped last August and the final twelve will launch on Netflix later this year. Even with the writing on the show diminishing, we're going to miss those gals and their wacky adventures.
This is Us
Family drama 'This is Us' has consistently made its audiences cry since debuting in 2016. Now the series comes to its conclusive sixth season. The series chronicles the Pearson family across the decades: from Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca (Mandy Moore) as young parents in the 1980s to their kids (the big three), Kevin (Justin Hartley), Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Randall (Sterling K. Brown) searching for love and fulfillment in the present day. The final season will premiere on Disney+ and Prime Video in Ireland and the UK from Thursday, January 6.
Peaky Blinders
The finale to the epic crime drama headlined by Cillian Murphy has been much delayed as a result of the pandemic, but we’ll finally see the epic conclusion this year on BBC. Alongside Murphy, Sophie Rundle, Finn Cole and Paul Anderson are all expected to return for season 6; so too are Anya Taylor-Joy, Sam Claflin, and Tom Hardy. Fans of the series will also be happy to hear that Steven Knight, who created the series, has confirmed that there will be a feature film based on 'Peaky Blinders' that is set after the sixth and final season.
After Life
While the TV series that Ricky Gervais pens typically only run for a couple of seasons, such was the love for 'After Life' that it's getting a third and final run. The show follows Tony (Gervais) as he struggles to cope after the death of his wife (Kerry Godliman). Now he just might looking at another chance at love as he continues to grieve as well as butt heads with his work colleagues and well-meaning friends. We just know we're going to need the tissues for this one... 'After Life' season 3 drops on Netflix on January 14.
