If you think the Irish First Dates is cringey, just wait until you see the US version.

We're speaking hypothetically, of course, but considering the dating culture in America is so drastically different to Ireland and the UK (as in, they have a dating culture), we're already salivating at the mere thought. Plus, y'know, the American versions of pretty much every reality show are amped up to ninety and there's always so... much... drama.

Ellen DeGeneres will produce First Dates US, which will run on NBC for eight shows initially, and filming is set to start in July.

They've also roped in actress Drew Barrymore as the narrator, according to Digital Spy. Fancy.

Note to Ellen: make them leave in an elevator at the end. The awkward silences are gas.
