When it comes to describing a soap character's exit the powers that be don't exactly hold back with the adjectives. Explosive is the buzzword this week, as the folk over at ITV get ready to say farewell to another Corrie favourite.

SPOILER ALERT: If you're the kind of person who would rather NOT know who'll be leaving the street soon then we suggest you look away now.

Still with us? Good.

Charlie Condou, aka Marcus who was with Sean but then went and fell in love with best pal Maria, will be the next big departure from the long-running soap, announcing his decision to quit yesterday. "I've had a fantastic time at Corrie" he said, "but feel it's time for me to move on. I was only meant to return for three months and ended up staying for three years! The producers have been really supportive and are leaving the door open for Marcus, which is great, and my exit will certainly be explosive."

Now it won't be 'explosive' in the literal sense. According to The Mirror, Marcus is going to go and have an affair with Bruno Langley's Todd Grimshaw before leaving Weatherfield. Because nobody would see that one coming a mile off, what with Todd clearly back to errr, 'shake things up' on the street.

Anyway, we're sure there'll be a fair few Marcus fans sad to see the back of Condou when he finally heads off our screens in 2014.
