Well it is the time of year when we sing The Pogues the most, so it's as good a time as any to have a gawk at Shane MacGowan's gnashers.

The Irish singer has decided it's about time he got those famous teeth of his fixed and even had cameras follow him along the process in a new documentary due to air on Sky Arts over Christmas.

Entitled 'Shane MacGowan: A Wreck Reborn', it will focus on the singer's transformation as he loses the dodgy dental work and gets himself a brand new set of teeth.

It won't be the first time he has attempted to do something about them as he previously wore dentures for a short time, but said they made him look like a 'd*ckhead'. This time round however he was encouraged by how well the new procedure worked out for his girlfriend.

MacGowan told The Sun "I had two operations and I’ve to go back in again but most of the work is done. It was a bit swollen for the first few days but I’m feeling good now. I’m getting used to them now.’

The documentary is also set to feature contributions from Johnny Depp and Libertines frontman Pete Doherty. Producer Ian Lamara said of the film: ‘I am delighted to be working on a project about an artist very close to my heart.

‘I think Shane is one of the great songwriters ever produced in Great Britain and Ireland, and we want this film to reflect that.’

You can catch 'Shane MacGowan: A Wreck Reborn' on Sky Arts this Christmas.
