It took 12 years to come back to the small screen but the limited edition return of The X-Files did so with a bang.
The show scored a strong 13.5 million viewers in its return, as it broadcast slightly later in prime time on Fox because of an NFL playoff overrun.
While critics haven't been kind to the series' first episode, the word is it gets stronger as it moves along. Fox have the second episode scheduled for tonight, while RTE2 will broadcast the series here starting tomorrow - a nice, quick turnover.
The final full season of the show went out with 13 million viewers so these are strong numbers for Fox. If they continue expect a quick renewal.
