Running from 1993 up until 1999, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine was the first - and, so far, only - series in the Star Trek franchise not to be set aboard a spaceship.

Dealing with the lives of the crew aboard the orbital space station, Deep Space Nine was by far the most gritty and realistic of Star Trek's entries and was noted for its darker storylines, a major departure from The Next Generation and the Original Series.

The ensemble cast, made up of Avery Brooks, Rene Auberjonois, Terry Farrell and our own Colm Meaney, Deep Space Nine - or DS9, as it's abbreviated to - was a mainstay on television in the '90s and has become a cult classic since then.
