Running from 1993 up until 1999, 'Star Trek: Deep Space Nine' was the first - and, so far, only - series in the Star Trek franchise not to be set aboard a spaceship.
Dealing with the lives of the crew aboard the orbital space station, 'Deep Space Nine' was far more gritty and realistic in the franchise to that date, and was noted for its darker storylines, a major departure from the likes of 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' and 'Star Trek: The Original Series'.
The ensemble cast, made up of Avery Brooks, Rene Auberjonois, Terry Farrell and our own Colm Meaney, Deep Space Nine - or DS9, as it's abbreviated to - was a mainstay on television in the '90s and has become a cult classic since then.
