It has become one of the most talked about and controversial Late Late Shows of the year, which is undoubtedly considered a win for the show, but there were a lot out there that were not too happy with all the shenanigans on RTE1 on Friday night.

The programme has received 176 calls and 120 emails "offering negative feedback about the programme", while the national broadcaster received 10 formal complaints.

In a statement a spokesperson said; "RTÉ will respond to these complaints within 20 days, in keeping with RTÉ Complaints procedure established under the Broadcasting Act 2009."

Over half a million watched on Friday as Ryan had 200 "single and salivating" young ones take over the Late Late Show audience, while there was also a performance by Linda Martin and Al Porter singing 1981’s Dead Ringer for Love, the obligatory Blind Date segment, Dickie Rock sang ‘That’s Amore', and even last year's hero, the 'exotic' Deano returned. Oh and Tubs gave out hampers of lubricant and condoms, because safe sex, y'all.

As usual though, people took to Twitter to speculate whether the audience at this Coppers Valentine's Special were a bit lubricated themselves, given how enthused, shall we say, they were about the whole thing. But as usual, RTE has shut down such claims, saying, "As is customary with every edition of the Late Late Show, audience members are offered a small amount of complimentary refreshments, alcoholic and non-alcoholic, before the show.

"The standard amount of refreshments was made available to the audience on Friday night’s programme. The audience was hyped up on love only and it made for a really fun show."

'Hyped up on love?' We'll have what they're having.
