Ever since The Great British Bake Off became a smash hit the BBC has been attempting to emulate the show's success with a few other formats. First there was the Great British Sewing Bee (we really didn't need it lads) and now they're taking things one step further with Grow, Make, Eat: The Great Allotment Challenge.
Yup, the broadcaster is really digging deep with a new horticultural contest that will pit green fingered growers against each other before asking them to show off their culinary skills. Think of it as MasterChef with a bit of Ear To The Ground thrown in for good measure.
Each hopeful will have to grow a crop of fruit and vegetables, go through a series of trials each week, and impress a judging panel featuring Jim Buttress from the UK's Royal Horticultural Society (Don't worry, we haven't really heard of him either but he's tipped to be the Paul Hollywood/ Simon Cowell of the competition) floral designed Jonathan Moseley and famed cookery writer Thane Prince. Now if only they had a pairing like The Fast Show's Ted and Ralph, Paul and Mary would have a real run for their money.
Oh, and as for your host? It's none other than Fern Britton. Lovely.
Well, we've seen it all now... Here's hoping they keep that soil nice and moist, or else our own Biddy White Lennon will be after 'em.
