The Blair Witch Project for millennials - interesting...

Just as several TV series are getting adapted for the big screen at the mo, so the reverse is happening as well.

Seminal horror classic The Blair Witch Project is currently being developed into a TV series.

Lionsgate are heading the project as part of their newly branded Studio L, which marks the studio’s attempt to move into the digital content space.

According to Deadline, the studio’s slate of new projects “is looking to hone in on millennials in partnership with leading brands and digital platforms as well as distinctive creative voices.”

Aside from The Blair Witch Project, these new projects also include a coming-of-age female-driven drama called The Honor List, which features a cast that has prominent social media presence including Meghan Rienks (Freakish, Mr. Student Body President), Sasha Pieterse (Pretty Little Liars, Inherent Vice), Karrueche Tran (Claws, The Bay), and Arden Cho (Teen Wolf).

Additionally, Studio L will also release Most Likely To Murder, a home-for-the-holidays noir-comedy starring The Mindy Project‘s Adam Pally, Golden Globe-winning Crazy Ex-Girlfriend actress Rachel Bloom (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) and Mad Men alum Vincent Kartheiser.

Other projects include Chicken Girls: The Movie, based off the popular YouTube series, and a TV adaptation of Waiting, which starred Ryan Reynolds and Anna Faris. Studio L is also working on film production partnerships with BuzzFeed and The Onion.
