Carrigstown has been given a makeover with 'Fair City' fans getting to see a brand new set as of Sunday, 30th December.

The new and improved set has been in planning for years and taken months to construct. 'Fair City' favourites including McCoys, the Library Apartment and the Community Centre have all had a face lift, while there is also a refurbished Hungry Pig and the reopening of Molloy’s Motors. Eagle eyed viewers will also notice two never before seen locations – Ballantine Road and Hessian Lane.

Additional features include a new area of Carrigstown park, a tea room, a bike shelter, artistically painted electricity boxes, and, similar to those around Dublin city and her suburbs, a "Welcome To Carrigstown" sign.

New interior sets will be seen on screen for the first time on Sunday, 30th December, and the brand new exterior set hits screens on Tuesday, 1st January. Fair City will also be broadcast in HD for the first time.

TV Editor Fiona Flynn got to have a look behind-the-scenes of the new set as part of this week's episode of 'The Telly Show' while she also had a chat with some of the cast about the Christmas episodes.
