The ‘I’m Outta Love’ singer was in the bottom two in this weekend’s show.
She had to change her salsa routine after tearing scar tissue caused by a mastectomy for breast cancer (which she has survived twice).
According to The Mirror, Anastacia broke down in tears backstage, delayed filming by 30 minutes, and clashed with dance partner Brendan Cole.
‘Brendan looked really annoyed and the body language between him and Anastacia was very frosty,’ an audience member said after the pair came back and filming resumed. ‘A female producer went up to talk to him but he wouldn’t even talk. He was fuming. Anton du Beke had to console him.’
Ultimately it was decided that no dance off should happen due to Anastacia’s injuries – and Melvin Odoom was sent home instead, making it the first time in Strictly’s twelve year history someone got sent home without a dance off.
Responses to the decision were mixed, with some applauding the decision while others expressed their disappointment:
That was a good decision #Strictly. Anastacia deserved one more chance. But just one. And if she can't dance next week, reverse the decision

WHAT!!!! Totally disgusting
If you can't dance in the dance off you should be the ones that leave
WHAT A JOKE!!!

Good grief you unpleasant little tweeps. Anastacia shouldn’t even have danced last night. She’s a hero and an example. #Strictly

Very disappointing. Anastacia should be gone as she forfeited the dance off. If injured, she may not last until next week anyway. #Strictly
